Our story:
Key Tours was born with the mission to tell the real story of our home, Gibraltar.
A disappointing tour on holiday in Malta left us feeling high and dry, wondering if our own story was being told so poorly. So we found a drawing board and made it our mission to go well beyond the books and showcase the real Gibraltar:
Its wildlife
You probably already know Gibraltar is home to over two hundred macaques, the only wild macaques on the European continent. But over 315 different types of Birds have also been recorded on the rock due to its position on bird migratory routes and a wide range of fauna and flora. Some of these flora being indigenous to the rock, such as the Gibraltar Campion (Silene Tomentose) and the Gibraltar Candytuft (Iberis Gibraltarica).
Its history
Our story dates back all the way from the Neanderthals with Gorham's cave, our UNESCO world heritage site, still under excavation. Through to the Phoenicians and the Romans during the fourth and fifth centurys, using the rock as a distinguising marker for the end of the world. The Arabs during the seventh century, the first settlers of Gibraltar, remaining here for over seven hundred years before being evicted by the Spanish as part of their efforts to rid them from Iberia, and finally the British and Dutch as allies during the war of Spanish succession. All of whom make up the rich tapestry of our history.
Its culture
Gibraltar is one of the most densely populated places in the world, and so is our culture. The diversity of the Gibraltarian as decendants of the Genoese (Italy), Maltese, Portuguese, Moorish, Spanish and British has made it into a melting pot of language, religion and culture. Forging its own unique sense of identity, not found anywhere else in the world.
and its spectacular views
Throughout our tours you are able to soak in the views from the rock in all four cardinal directions across countries, oceans and contintents.
The story of Gibraltar is ever-changing, and so are our tours.
Today, Gibraltar is a vibrant Financial Centre, a busy tourist destination and a popular port of call.
Sitting on the gateway to the Mediterranean, it is a migratory hotspot and a cultural melting pot. While still remaining a very strategic location to all, as it has done for hundreds of years.
All of our guides are native Gibraltarians, fully certified by the Gibraltar Tourist Board and hold additional certifications in Macaque behaviour.

As a native Gibraltarian, I know this little lump of limestone better than most, watching it grow out of its barricades into the 21st century.
Telling the story of Gibraltar to me isn't just about the neanderthal man and the macaques, it's about everything in between. 14 sieges and over 200 years of occupation mean it has more than enough history to write a film about, or several. And it's a novel that is still being day by day!
I have been delivering tours of my homeland for 5+ years, and I hope to share a slice of the sun with you during your visit.
